Subject: Katsucon Still On! Weather Update from the convention.

The Katsucon 16 convention staff wants to point out that the convention will go ahead as scheduled. They have also posted a update about the weather situation.
http://www.katsucon.org/news/weather-update-katsucon-still-on/
It’s going to be cold and snowy tomorrow (Wednesday) with a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 7 PM and the heaviest snow expected Wednesday morning. We’re expecting a total accumulation of 10-20 inches. The forecast says that it’ll be above freezing by Thursday afternoon (it was above freezing for a large portion of the day today and there was a lot of melt, so that’s good). The sun should be out for the weekend.
Reports say that most airlines in the local airports (Reagan National/DCA, Dulles/IAD, Baltimore Washington International/BWI) have canceled flights for Wednesday. Some have canceled for Thursday morning, as well, but Thursday afternoon and Friday look good.
Metro: Metrobus service and Metrorail Above Ground service has been suspended for Wednesday but they’re optimistic about the above ground resuming on Thursday along with bus service as road conditions allow.
Prince George’s county states that even with 18″ of snow, plowing in thru lanes will be complete within 36 hours.
If you’d like immediate information on current conditions, please contact the Gaylord
In summary, we’re excitedly moving forward to Katsucon 16 with the expectation of clear roads, few traffic delays, and sun for the weekend. We hope to see you there!

Enjoyed meeting Tony, Steve & Vic at Katsucon 2010. Great panels. Didn't find any Robotech booths in the dealers room, just misc pieces here and there. Video rooms could have play some Robotech episodes too.
We cosplayed as Max & Miriya. We might make the next con in VA, not sure yet. Definitely hitting Otakon this summer. Gotta finish some more costumes for them before Otakon so we can costume change through the weekend.

That was you?
I was in the row behind you with the camcorder. I wanted to get a picture of you two but by the time I got out of the room you had disappeared.
Loved the blue-tinted sunglasses you had.

Yes, that's us at Setsucon in State College, PA. I did some minor mods to the costumes and have a few more to do but nothing that really stands out.
Sorry we missed you darthsylver. Maybe we'll see you at another con this year. We are also considering the one in PGH.
Thanks for the compliments. We received a lot of great feedback.
There was also a Minmei at Katsucon. We got a nice picture of us with Tony Oliver & Minmei.
For Otakon I'm hoping to have Miriya's Zentraedi flightsuit, two civilian max/miriya costumes, and maybe SDF flightsuits done. It's a little ambitious, maybe a lot ambitious, but it's only Feb, still time. The zentraedi flightsuit is furthest along.
Bit of Max & Miriya trivia. Not sure if anyone else mentioned this. In WWI the germans had a merit award that was a blue cross, kind of like the congressional medal of honour. An ace pilot named Max Immelman was the first to win this award for aerial combat when he racked up 20 kills. After this, the award was most often referred to as The Blue Max. Miriya's Macross name is Milia. What larger than life female aviator comes to mind? The first woman to win the Distinguished Flying Cross. Amelia Earhart.

WE TALKED ABOUT ROBOTECH AND HE HAD SOME INPUT AS WELL. COINCIDENCE?
AMELIA EARHART FAMILY AND FRIENDS NICKNAME TO HER ACTUALLY IS MILLIE.

There was a 1960's film with George Peppard titled The Blue Max.
I used to have a Commodore 64 game called Blue Max. There's a video of the game on YouTube:
