Subject: 2010 Robotech Convention Tour Suggestions!
Started on: October 9, 2009 - 5:39:27 PM

Hello Everyone,

It is hard to believe but the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour is wrapping up in November! While we are preparing for our final tour stop, I’m fast at work booking stops for the 2010 Robotech Convention Tour for Robotech's 25th Anniversary! While I’m busy booking events, I wanted to take a moment to answer many of the questions I have been receiving in regards to what is going for 2010!

So lets begin!

WHERE DOES THE ROBOTECH CONVENTION TOUR GO?

The Robotech Convention Tour goes to conventions, film festivals and events that it is invited to attend.

HOW CAN I BRING THE ROBOTECH CONVENTION TOUR TO MY LOCAL CONVENTION?

Contact your local convention(s) and tell them that you want the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour to make a stop at your local convention to get your business! Feel free to give them my e-mail so they can contact me:

kev@robotech.com

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT THAT I TELL MY LOCAL CONVENTION ABOUT THE TOUR?

Conventions want to bring in guests that their fans demand. If more people demand the tour the tour can go to more places.

HOW DO I FIND A CONVENTION NEAR ME?

AnimeCons.com has a comprehensive database of Anime Conventions all around the world. You look at their database here

http://www.animecons.com/events

I LIVE OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. CAN THE TOUR MAKE A STOP IN MY COUNTRY?

YES! However, you must let your local conventions or film festivals know that you want the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour to make a stop at your local convention or film festival in your country to get your business! Feel free to give them my e-mail so they can contact me:

kev@robotech.com

We will make every reasonable effort to attend events outside of the United States, however, those events must extend an invitation to the tour.

I RUN A CONVENTION. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR ME TO BOOK THE TOUR?

Please e-mail me at kev@robotech.com to find out more information.

WILL THERE BE A STANDALONE ROBOTECH CONVENTION?

No. There will not be a stand-alone Robotech Convention.

WHY NOT?

The short answer is simple: Costs. Running a convention is a very expensive proposition. Rising costs (transportation, venue rentals, hotel accommodations, insurance, legal, etc…) make it impractical to establish a new stand-alone convention, especially in this difficult economic environment. We should also point out Harmony Gold is primarily an entertainment production and distribution company, NOT a special events company. We rely on coordinating with organizations that specialize in putting together these conventions.

BUT DIDN'T YOU PUT TOGETHER AN EVENT IN 2005?

Robocon 20 was made possible in 2005 by coordinating with AnimeExpo and was a fun and rewarding experience for many Southern California fans. However, we are now working with conventions across the country to bring the Robotech Convention Tour to as many fans in as many regions as possible for Robotech's 25th Anniversary.

I HAVE A FEW BUCKS AND SO DO MY FRIENDS, COULDN'T WE JUST THROW A CONVENTION TOGETHER?

That’s nice of you to offer, but we must point out that organizing a convention is a time consuming, labor intensive and very expensive task (not many of them survive more than a few years). Therefore, Harmony Gold prefers to work with established convention organizers for the Robotech Convention Tour, but the input and participation of fans are greatly valued and can help make these individual events even better!

WHEN WILL WE FIND OUT WHAT CITIES ARE BOOKED FOR 2010?

The first round of tour stops will be posted on the week of December 15th!

Would love to see the Robotech Tour make it's way to NDK again. Especially with it being the 25th anniversary in 2010...

Just fired off an email to the anime people at GenCon. If ROBOTECH is there, I'll probably be there as well.

Howdy all!

With the 25TH Anniversary of Robotech coming up why not have the tour At the grandaddy of anime cons Anime Expo in Downtown Los Angeles Convention Center.

With all the voice actors, producers, etc returning for panels plus Concerts by Reba West & Michael Bradley over at the Nokia theater.
That be sooo awesome if that happened.

See ya!

The RT tour was at GenCon in 2006. A few of us RT.commers from the Midwest hung out together and had a blast! There's a great restaurant/microbrewery in downtown Indy called The Ram, and they have RPG 24/7 during the con. I just like GenCon because it's less than 2 hours from my house.

I appreciate the suggestions, however, I must point out that the The Robotech Convention Tour only goes to conventions and events that it is invited to attend.

The suggestions to me are great but taking the effort to contact your local conventions like you did with me here would go a long way to bringing the tour near you!

i think tha it would be awesome if a lot of these tour and/or conventions can make their way over to palm springs, ca. i am stationed in 29 palms, ca, and it is hard for me to have a weekend where i could go to l.a. or san fran or even san diego.

assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Well 2010's MTAC is going to be a Space adventure theme and nothing screams space adventure than Robotech.

Could you post a link of anime events?,you did once and you said to check that site to see how to invite Robotech to central Texas areas.

I understand we need to process an invite but how does it get done?

Because I kept missing the Dallas Akon and maybe it would be better to come to other cities in Texas.

Thanks
